Dr. H.T. Lalremsanga

Dr. H.T. Lalremsanga is Professor and Head of the Department of Zoology at Mizoram University. He specializes in Developmental Biology, Herpetology, Biosystematics, Taxonomy, and Animal Ecology. He has presented 30 papers at national and international conferences, delivered 76 invited lectures, and published 234 research papers along with 23 books or book chapters.

He is a member of the IUCN Viper Specialist Group, the IUCN Species Survival Commission (SSC) Amphibian Specialist Group (2021–2025), the German Society for Herpetology and Herpetoculture, and the Mizoram State Biodiversity Board. He has supervised 6 PhD scholars and 2 M.Phil students and serves as a reviewer for 7 scientific journals.

Dr. Lalremsanga received the Special Science Award 2023 from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Mizoram, for his outstanding contributions to research benefiting local communities. He assists snakebite patients in obtaining antivenom and collaborates with Premium Serum (Pune) on antivenom development. He has described over 40 new species, primarily from Northeast India, and authored a book on the snakes of Mizoram (“Mizoram Rul Chanchin”) in the local language.
