Rogier van Rossem  is a reptile and amphibian specialist, entrepreneur, educator, and conservationist. From a young age, he developed a passion for herpetology, which later became his professional path. Since 2005, he has been the owner of De Kameleon, a renowned terrarium shop in Tilburg, where he has worked since the age of fifteen.

In 2008, Rogier founded Herpetofauna foundation, a nature conservation organization dedicated to the protection of reptiles and amphibians, their habitats, and the advancement of education and scientific research. The foundation is active in 23 countries and regularly collaborates with institutions and governments as a knowledge partner.

Rogier has contributed to the development of professional qualifications in herpetology and delivers courses and guest lectures on animal welfare, behaviour, and reptile and amphibian care. Internationally, he serves on the advisory board of Save The Snakes and the board of the King Cobra Conservancy, and is frequently invited to speak at conferences.

He is the author of three children’s books on conservation and Het Grote Terrarium Handboek (2022), a comprehensive reference and study book on captive reptile and amphibian care. In addition, he co-founded the Tilburg nature education centre ’t Valleike, where he remains active as chair of the board.
